ARAYASHIKI – THE SENSE OF OUR SENSES
ALPHAVILLE x Nadine SCHÜTZ

Is it possible to create a sensation of space that allows for a state of mind beyond the senses themselves? Arayashiki – or, Ālayavijñāna, in Sanskrit – defines an all-encompassing consciousness which unifies both physical and mental impressions into emerging possibilities of life. Like a memory of the future, this installation inhabits the gallery of the Kizunaya Building, originally a workshop for mourning jewellery. A tunnel-shaped space amplifies - by compression - the impression of changing soundscapes and invites to a momentary union with these voices of nature, between inside and outside, past and future.

Once an hour, an improvisational contemporary dance performance by Monochrome Circus will interpret this space (19:00, 20:00, 21:00).
